Here's a secret: bonefish aren't leader shy! They're picky about the way the fly moves in the water. A loop knot allows for freedom of movement that typical knots don't... and as a plus you can used heavier tippets, which is a good thing. Trust me.
I picked this up from a Barramundi guide in Australia. He used it to attach bite tippet to thin leaders for tough-mouthed "barra's" as he called them, but it works great for shock tippets on tarpon leaders. The best part: it's fast!
I learned this from a tarpon guide in the Keys. It provides the freedom of movement of a loop knot, but it keeps the shock-leader dead straight, and the fly riding high and pretty... which is what the silver king wants.
