The only thing we don't provide is wading shoes, which are essential.
(If you don't have flats boots or wading shoes, old sneakers will work just fine. Whatever you wear, make sure to wear socks with them to keep the sand from chafing your feet.)
At FISH BONES we deliver the authentic flats fishing experience. I will personally tailor make your trip to suit your needs. There are no "stock" trips here.
You can fish for tailing bonefish on the many "ocean-side" flats that ring the island, or learn to spot the fish as they cruise the deeper edges. Davin will not only put you on fish, but is adept at communicating the nuances of this exciting sport to beginners and veterans alike. Come Fly Fishing with us and discover why taking the "gray ghost" on a fly is fast becoming the obsession of saltwater anglers worldwide.
Tackle Recommendations...
Tackle and Gear:
- Rods:7-9 weights
- Lines: Matching weight forward tropical saltwater floating.
- Reels: Salt-water rated with at least 150 yards of backing and a smooth drag.
- Leaders: 10-12 feet in 10-12 pound mono. (Orvis®, Umpqua® or Scientific Anglers™, all offer good pre-packaged Bonefish leaders.)
- Tippet: 10-12 pound mono or fluorocarbon. Note: Fluorocarbon is good for tippet only. It's greater density causes it to sink and catch the bottom.
- Sunglasses: Polarized copper or vermillion lenses are a must!
- Wading Shoes: Zip or lace up wading shoes. Remember to wear socks to keep the sand from chafing your feet.
- Misc: Sunblock, Hat, and Camera
